THE LIQUOR ISSUE.

LOSS OF REYKNUE ARGUMENT. By Telecrsph.—Press Association. Wellington, October 19. A Moderate League deputation waited on the Prime Minister and submitted the decisions of yesterday’s conference. Mr. Massev said if he believed there was possibility of State Control being carried he would repeal the componaation clause in the present licensing law but he did not believe there wa« such a possibility. The disturbance of taxation by Prohibition would have to be considered when the time arrived. The loes of revenue would, have to be provided for. Parliament must say how. It would be wrong for him to say now what proposals he would make. If Prohibition was not carried there would be ft Licensing Bill next session to put the traffic on a. better footing. The public was not satisfied with the existing arrangements and the whole ofi the licensing laws would have to be revised in the interests of the public.
