ENTERTAINMENTS.

EVERYBODY'S. “CARNIVAL' MATINEE TO-DAY. This afternoon there will be a special matinee screening of the gorgeous screen masterpiece “Carnival.” Venice at Carnival time! Gaily decorated gondolas flitting about the hundred canals, gorgeous pageantry of a great city in festive attire and merry mood; and in the midst of revelry, a drama is being enacted, drama that grips the heart by its very truthful intensity. Add to this England’s greatest actor, Matheson Lang, in a wonderful role, again add the romance that belongs by age-long right to Venice, with smiie hundreds of scenes enacted in the wellknown historical spots. The total is a cost, in good English sovereigns, of £17,000, and the biggest and best production that ever bore the stamp of Britain; such is “Carnival.” Here is the picture that is different, that amply satisfies the longing so often expressed for ‘something new’ in pictures, new faces, scenes, stories. Well might it he described as “the picture the '.whole world has been waiting for.” “Carnival’’ is a wonderful production and it screens finally to-night.

THE PEOPLE’S. MARIE PREVOST TO-NIGHT. Charming Marie Prevost in “The Dangerous Little Demon” is the attraction at the People’s Theatre to-night. This little star, graduating from bathing girl comedies to “flapper’- roles in full-length features, has attained a considerable following among fans, and seems destined for big things in the photoplay world. The picture depicts Marie as a poor little millionaire's daughter, face full of beauty, head buzzing with brains, pursued by all the love-sick swains in her set, and how she overcame her romantic problems in the most deliciously daring drama, magnetic Marie ever did. The supporting .films include a Joe Martin comedy, “The Monkey Schoolmaster.” The prices of admission are advertised as usual.
