PROHIBITION POLL.

ANGLICAN SYNOD’S ACTION. By Telegraph.—Press Association Auckland, Last Night. The Anglican Diocesan Synod carried a motion that churchpeople be recommended to vote prohibition at the forthcoming poll, the voting being: Clergv 42 to 25, laity 20 to 16. The Synod rejected an amendment, on the lines of the last general Synod’s resolution, to the effect that the Synod should express its strong conviction that it is the bounden duty of Christian people, unless they are prepared to vote for the total prohibition of the liquor traffic, to have some other drastic remedy for the evil which is sapping the work and efficiency of the community, the voting being: Clergy 37 to 32, laity 15 to 21.
