Mr. W. P. Kirkwood, of Stratford, who has been on a trip to America and England during the past few months, returned to Stratford by the mail train last night. Mr. Leonard S. Monk, personal representative of Mr. Allan Wilkie, the Shakesperian actor, is on a visit to New Plymouth. Miss Lily G. Hughan, Gisborne, has had her name placed on the -waiting list for admission as a probationer on the nursing staff of the New Plymouth hospital. Mr. Geo. Whillans, who has been residing in New Plymouth for the past two years as Taranaki representative of a Wellington house, left yesterday for Fordell, where he nas entered into business on his own account. A Nelson telegram reports the death of Mr. Thomas Snargo Edwards, a retired railway official, who for many years was in charge of the Nelson section. The death took place at Oaonui last Friday of Mrs. Agnes Malcolm, wife of Mr. Robert Malcolm, at the ripe age of 86 years. The late Mrs. Malcolm was born at Kilmarnock, Scotland, in 1836, and came to New Zealand about 60 years ago, settling at Oaonui about 36 years ago. Besides her husband, ehe is survived by four daughters and two sons, two daughters (Agnes and an infant daughter) having predeceased her. The daughters are Mrs. M. Carlson (Glasgow), Mrs. A. Campbell (Dunedin), Mrs. A. Lusk (Oaonui), Mrs. O. L. Allan (New Plymouth) and the sons are Messrs. Robert (Opunake) and James (Oaonui).
