SIKI AND CARPENTIER. ANOTHER MATCH PLANNED. ’ v ‘ By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, Oct. 16. If Siki beats Beckett on November 23 he will meet Carpentier again in February for a stake of £6OOO. TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held last night. Present: Messrs. E. Jackson (chairman), G. E. Jago, C. Grainger, E. Whittle, M. J. Stagpoole, W. Richards, A. Baker, W. N. Stephenson, W. Yardley, W. Whitaker, R. Barlow, W. Graham, N. B. Howell, R. Paul, Jas. Garcia, and the secretary (Mr. C. H. Wynyard). The question of holding another tournament this year was discussed. Messrs. Graham, Stephenson and Howell, the deputation that waited on the Sports Ground Committee, ieported that the Sports Ground Committee had met them very generously in the matter, and would render every assistance possible.— In view <sf the uncertainty of the weather and the lateness of the season, it was deemed inadvisable to hold a tournament in the open air this year. It was stated that of the seven tournaments held in the Coronation Hall, only two had been a financial success, owing to the expenses of preparing the hall for the tournaments. It was finally decided to hold a tournament,’ providing arrangements can be made with two prominent boxers to box on a percentage basis, the bout to take place in the Empire Theatre, and the date to be fixed later. It was resolved that the match committee, comprising Messrs. Jackson, Jago, Graham, Howell and Richards, at. once make arrangements to match professionals for the forthcoming tournament. It was resolved to grant the Old Boys’ Association permission to run boxing competitions in connection with the gala day on Saturday next.
