Humphrey, Broadway, Stratford. Orders for papers may also be left with him. BOROUGH AFFAIRS. Oct. 17. The ordinary meeting of the Borough j Council was held last night. The works committee recommended in | their monthly report that a tar sprayer ■ be purchased. The Mayor said he had been against ! tar spraying, and believed in hand work, ; but he had been convinced that a sprayer was now needed. Cr. Cameron: Where are we going to get the £450 from ? The Mayor: Loan money. It was pointed out that if the weather was favorable more tar work would be done in the coming year than in previous years. The recommendation was adopted. W. T. Steer. J. Robson and J. Brooks, residents of Pembroke West Road, applied for an extension of the water service to their'respective properties.—Referred to the works committee. Cr. Rutherfurd moved, in accordance with notice of motion, that the resolution adopting the report of the electric light committee, following the inquiry into the trouble concerning the Diesel engine, be rescinded. The Mayor refused to vote on the question again, and Cr. Jackson wished the matter to drop. Cr. Rutherfurd declined to withdraw the motion. He said that owing to the absence of certain councillors from the meeting when the motion was carried the resolution did not reflect the true opinion of the council. The motion was carried. The request of the A. and P. Association that borough officials be granted a holiday on people’s day at the forthcoming show was granted. THE DOMAIN. The monthly meeting of the Domain I Board was held last night. Mr. McMillan said that a meeting had been held in connection with the prof posed Malone Memorial, and sugs'estions were submitted as to the location end form of the memorial. A plan of the locality at the entrance to King Edward Park, agreed upon by the meeting, was submitted by the borough •foreman, and this was adopted by the board. The Mayor said that in view of the importance of the works now being carried out on Victoria Park he thought it would be advisable for the works : committee to meet on the grounds once | a week.—lt was made a recommenda- | tion to the works committee to carry ! this suggestion into effect. ’ G. Keliely wrote asking for a reducj tion of th? rent of a portion of K : ng , Edward Park. He claimed that the ; work he had done had improved the , property, and that cronping did not pav i at the rental ( £75).—-The price will be I reviewed in February, at the end of the lease. On behalf of the sports candidate Mr. W. Kerr said that by request the troupe would be pleased to pay a return visit with a full concert irrty at an early date. The Sports go out to Bird Road on Thursday night, when the Serenaders ■ will put on their brightest costumes I and paint the old schoolhouse red. ! GENERAL ITEMS. At last night’s meeting of the Borough Council, Cr. Jackson complained of the work done by the Railway Department on the footpath crossing to the railway yards from Fenton Street, and the works committee were instructed to inspect the crossing and report to the council. i Tn honor of the Rev.
