TARANAKI GRANTS. WAITARA—TE KUITI ROAD. SUBSTANTIAL GRANTS PROVIDED. VOTE FOR TANGARAKAU VALLEY ROAD. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Wellington, Last Night. In the Public Works Statement, brought down in the House of Representatives this evening, votes to the amount of £178,473 appear for works in the Stratford Road district (which covers practically the whole of the Taranaki province as well as the Wanganui district), as against £173,118 voted the year before, of which £84,983 was expended. The largest vote is for the Awakino Valley Road, on which £6900 was spent the year before. This year £15,000 is provided. The next is £14,000 for the metalling of the road from Mount Messenger to Mokau. Last year £8684 was spent. The sum of £750 appears for commencing the metalling of the Tangarakau Gorge Road.
