LINE TO TAUPO.
CONDITION OF TIMBER LEASE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Oet._J6. One of the conditions of the Tongariro Timber Company's lease is that n shall build a railway from Kakahi, on the Main Trunk line, to Tokaanu, on Lake Taupo. The line must be of Government gauge, but need not be up to other Government standards, but if a light line is built it must ultimately be converted to full power, and certain sums derived from the sale of timber set aside for the purpose. The company applied to the Supreme Court to know if a heavy line is built, if these moneys need not be set aside, and also if it had power to assign and mortgage its interest in certain lands. The mat* ter was declared to bp urgent, but counsel said the only man who knew all about the facts was St F. D. Bell, and he would not be here till November, nor did they know where to communicate with him.
The Court gave an affirmative answer as to the mortgages, but deferred the other question.
