ATHLETICS.
LABOR DAY SPORTS. GOOD NOMINATIONS. The nominations for the athletic sports to bo held next Monday (Labor Day) at the sports ground, New Plymouth, closed last Saturday, and the number received greatly exceeds those of previous years. The nominations include competitors from all parts of Taranaki, and amongst those who have entered for the cycling events are a number of the competitors in the round-the-mountain race, and their training for that event should be of much benefit to them for the Labor Day races.
