MUTTON AND LAMB.
SEASON’S PROSPECTS GOOD.
NEW MARKETS NECESSARY.
By Telegraph.—Press Assodanoa. Dannevirke, Oct. 14. Mr. J. S. Jessen, vice-chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, in n letter from London to Mr. Southern, of the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Union, ■Hated: “I should like to say to growers in your district that the prospects before New Zealand mutton and lamb are ; n mv opinion very good. “I'am more than ever convinced ot the necessity of New Zealand growers themselves taking a very definite interest in their 'business. It is the business of growers to open up new markets and. to endeavor to increase the consumption of New Zealand produce. No one else will do it. . "Moat of the large meat interests are also interested in meat ij onl other countries, and are not specially interested in pushing New Zealand meat. Further, if they do not open up now markets, there is no guarantee that they themselves will get any special benefit, whereas, from the point of view of the growers, it is of vital importance that we open new markets to increase consumption.”
