WHITELEY MEMORIAL CHURCH TRUST.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Whiteley Memorial Church trustees was held on Thursday evening. The Rev. W. J. Elliott presided over a good attendance. The report and balance sheet were presented by Mr. V. Griffiths and adopted. The chairman reported on the style of the memorial cairn, and the site where it is proposed to erect it, to mark the vicinity where the Rev. John Whiteley was killed. It was resolved to proceed with the scheme when the necessary formalities have been complied with. The flower show committee was warmly thanked, together with all the helpers, for their successful effort and the financial aid rendtfl-ed the trust fund. A number of tenders for the painting and renovation of the whole ot the church property were careiuliy considered. Tenders were accepted, and it was agreed to proceed at once with all essential work. A discussion took place on the pressing necessity of procuring a larger and more suitable organ for the church. A committee with power to act was set up, and was authorised to confer with the choir conductor and choir forthwith.
Mr. V. Griffiths, after a fine record of 15 years as secretary and treasurer of the trust, retired from the office, and Mr. T. G. Sole was elected to the position. The chairman moved: “That the cordial thanks of the trustees be pre-
sented to Mr. V. Griffiths for the efficient and faithful service rendered by him during his term of office.” Several trustees spoke warmly of the retiring secretary’s work and record.
