(From Our Own Correspondent.) B October 13. I The official opening of the Eltham A Bowling Club took place yesterday, a V few games being got off before tlie . began to fall. Many visitors from ad- . 1 joining clubs attended, and it was unfortunate that the rain did not keep off I lojig enough to allow a pleasant afternoon’s bowls. The Tennis Club had intended their official opening to take place ye<sterday t but owing to the wet weather this has been postponed indefinitely. The have been well tended during the autumn, and are in excellent condition. The membership still continues to increase, and it is stated that the club intends to purchase further grounds for extension at some future date. Mr. D. L. A. Astbury (Liberal-Labor) addressed a fair gathering of electors at Rotokare on Wednesday evening, and was accorded an attentive hearing. At the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks for his able address, and confidence in the Liberal-Labor Party, was carried unanimously.
