LONDON WOOL SALES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Oct. 11. At the wool sales 10,285 bales were offered, including 6086 Australian and 2674 New Zealand. There was a large attendance from all quarters, including the United States. The market was cheerful, but competition not at its best, as there was only a very poor selection. A few comebacks and fine crossbreds sold at 10 per cent, advance, compared with September closing rates. Medium and lower crossbreds were about 5 per cent, higher. A large selection of faulty and scoured merinos and faulty crossbreds sold at par to 5 per cent, advance. The Glendon clip brought top price 11 %d, average 10 %d. Received Oct. 12, 8.5 p.un. London,' Oct. 11. At the wool sales there was keen competition and a good selection of combing merinos. Prices for all merinos were 5 per cent, above the September closing rates. Other classes were firm at yesterday's rates; "Balmoral” 49d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 10th instant:— Wool Sales.—There was a good attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by home and French buyers being active, and prices, as compared with the close of preceding series, ruled in sellers’ favour. As compared with last sales’ closing rates, prices are higher by about 5 per cent, to 7% per cent, for medium and coarse greasy crossbred; prices are higher by about 7% per cent, to 10 per cent, for merino, and higher by 10 per cent, for fine greasy crossbred. The opening catalogues were not representative. AUSTRALIAN OPOSSUM SKINS. New York, Oct. 11. Twenty-three thousand Australian opossum skins brought a maximum of 305 cents (12a 8d) at the St. Louis fur auctions. LONDON TALLOW SALES. Received Oct. 12, 8.5 p.m. London, Oct. 11. At the tallow sales 2168 casks were offered and 952 sold at late rates and an occasional 6d decline.. Quotations: Mutton 40s 6d and 36s 6d; beef 41s and 365. P. AND O. SHARES. Received Oct. 12, 8.5 p.m. London, Oct. 11. P. and O. shares are quoted at £290 buyers and £3lO sellers. THE BERLIN EXCHANGE. London, Oct. 11. The German exchange is 13,500 marks to £l. Received Oct. 12, 8.5 p.m. London, Oct. 11. The exchange on Berlin is now’ 11,800 marks to the £.
