(By "Moturoa.”) The Masterton R.C. spring meeting opens today. A personal friend of the.writer’s —a man right on the spot—supplies the following information: The High-weight Handicap (l’,i miltf) promises to be a good race. Kyoto, on his Otaki running, should be fancied, though there is sure to be good money (until it is lost) on Projector and Edendale. The Trial Stakes will see The Linnet a hot order. Maioha, on Hawke's Bay form, appears to have a great chance In the Flying Handicap (six furlongs). Zouave, who finished second to King’s Trumpeter at Hastings, will be made the medium of a solid punt in the Lawn Handicap. The Cup bears an open appearance. Mark Time will not be a starter. The Kembali bracket, on recent form, appear to hold a mortgage on the race, and Bonny Heather will be the hardest to beat. The Lansdowne Handicap, on paper, presents few difficulties, and the bulk of the investments will be on Merry Day and Miss Rene. Condition may pull the latter through. Taipalru won last week In easy fashion, and has a luxurious weight in the Grandstand Handicap. The Farewell Handicap will draw a good field, including Pillage, Deborah and other smart ones. Pillage lodks like attracting attention. RACING IN AUSTRALIA. THE CAULFIELD MEETING. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Oct. 12, 10.10 p.m. Melbourne, Oct. 12. J.
