HIGH CHURCH.
LATER-DAY DEVELOPMENTS. By Telegraph.—-Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Oct. 10. Archbishop Wright, in his opening address to the Anglican Sydnod, referred to the nexus question, and - warned the assembly of forces at work which would disintegrate the Reformation structure of the and fling them back into pre-Refprmation darkness and uncertainty. The deliverance of a chasuble (a vestment worn Iby the priest when celebrating Mass) at an ordination in two dioceses last year was an ominous sign, which was a flagrant defiance of one of the root principles of the Reformation. Variety of opinion on non-essentials was one thing, alteration of fundamentals another, A distinction between the two should be possible,, if not-the church had better remain as it is, for fear of risking schism. He urged the- synod when further considering determination of the connection -with Britain, to ensure that the majorities were real majorities of the church. . ;
