JERSEY BULLS.
' NEW PLYMOUTH -SALE. I SECOND DAY’S CATALOGUE. PRICES IMPROVE. On the general average the quality of the stock offered yesterday at the second day’s sale at Waiwakaiho of pedigree Jersey bulls of the North Taranaki Jersey breeders was a good deal better than those offered on the first day and prices were correspondingly better, although, in keeping with the times, they were down on those ruling last year. A total of 91 animals were catalogued, of which 86 were put under the hammer, 69 being sold. The total sum realised was 1865 guineas, the average sales being £2B 7s, as against £22 2s fid for the first day. The total offering for the two days was 178 animals, and they included some very fine bulls with long records for butter-fat. A fair number were bought for herds outside of Taranaki, buyers operating from Westland. Palmerston North, and North Auckland. Only two topped the century mark, the ruling price for other first-class yearnings being in the vicinity of 65 guineas The sale realised a grand total of 3157 guineas, the average price for the 136 animals sold being £24 7s 6d. Top price yesterday was realised by Mr. G. H. Bell’s Pinewood Medallist, which went to Mr. J. Colson, Waihou, for 125 guineas. Sired by Molina’s Noble, a grandson of the imported Petune’s Noble, he is a line bred Noble of Oaklands bull, with an average butter-fat backing from three of his nearest dams of 674 lb of butterfat.
