SALVATION ARMY.
NEW COMMISSIONER ARRIVES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Commissioner Robert Hoggard and his wife, who are to take charge of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, arrived in Wellington to-day. They will be accorded a civic reception to-morrow, and will be welcomed at the Town Hall on Sunday afternoon at a special ceremony arranged by the Salvation Army. Commissioner and Mrs. Hoggard received a warm welcome as they came ashore. There was an imposing gathering of the Salvation Army on the wharf, and a large contingent of children from the Army’s home assisted in the welcome. The Commissioner has had a long and interesting career since he joined the Salvation Army in Beverley, Yorkshire, 42 years ago. For two years the Commissioner was in charge of the Army’s work in Scotland, and afterwards in South Africa.
