An emergency meeting of the joint Labor council passed a resolution demanding the Government’s immediate resignation and a general election as the only clear step ensuring rigorous re-consideration of the position, not only in the Near East, but of all Home and foreign problems; declaring there was not a shadow of justification for war with Turkey now that all substantial matters had been referred to a conference; and condemning the Government’s publicity bureau for giving .cut to the Press communications which were keeping the country in a state of uncertainty and alarm.—Aus.-N.Z.
