The fourth day of the A..T.C. spring carnival yesterday was conducted under ideal weather conditions. The attendance totalled thirty-five thousand. The absence of the champions materially assisted investors in sifting the cream of the residue, but several contests were remarkably open until the numbers were finally posted. The chief race of the day, the Randwick Plate, was expected in many quarters to reveal a surprise in consequence of Speciality's brilliant Metropolitan victory on Monday. David at no stage looked like losing; he increased his lead at pleasure and won as he liked. Dick’s win was exceedingly popular. New Zealanders thereby carrying off the steeple honors for the carnival. Dick and Bright Maid ran together behind Blue till the straight. Dick then established a lead, which he maintained to the post. Results: — CANONBURY STAKES—Lineath 1, Pretty Tress 2, Black Scot 3. Twenty-three starters.
