FREE STATE’S BUDGET. BURDEN OF COMPENSATION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Received October 8, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 7. The Irish Provincial Government’s first Budget, covering the year ending March next, estimates the expenditure at £37,709,000, of which compensation for property losses amounts to £10,000,000, -the army £7,245,000 and education £3,863,000. AMBUSH BY REBELS. Received October 9, 1.5 a.m. London, Oct. 8. One hundred and fifty Irregulars, equipped with six machine guns, ambushed a small party of National troops near Cassir. They killed Captain Walsh and another, and the rest surrendered. A large force of Nationals overtook the retreating Irregulars and captured six. The unidentified bodies of three young men were found shot on the roadside at Clondalkin, near Dublin.
