Sleeman and Connelly have lodged appeals against their sentences in the recent bribery case. PAYMENTS BY WHEAT POOL. Received October 6, 10.40 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 6. The chairman of the voluntary wheat pool announced that last season’s pool will be cleared up by the end of the year, when a further payment of eightpence a bushel will be made to farmers, making the total amount distributed by the pool over £5,500,000.
