TAKING TEMPERATURES.
SYDNEY DOCTOR’S CHARGES. DENIAL BY THE MINISTER. By Telegraph.—Press Assoc; at lon. Wellington, Last Night. In the course of a statement, in the House to-day, the Hon. C. J. Parr denied the allegations made in a recent cable message by a Sydney medical practitioner regarding the method of examining the passengers and crew on steamers arriving from plague-infected countries. He had a report from Dr. McLean, health officer at Wellington, who said every precaution was taken and very special care was exercised in sterilising the thermometers used. The position had now so improved that he had decided for the future that the taking of the temperatures of passengers was unnecessary.
