REPATRIATION.
NEW PLYMOUTH COMMITTEE. LOANS TO STOP IN DECEMBER. The monthly meeting of the New Plymouth Repatriation Committee was held yesterday. Present: Messrs. C. H. Weston, W. J. Chaney, T. Furlong, H. R. Cattley and E. Morgan. The directior of repatriation wrote to the effect that some enquiries had been made as to whether those who do not intend marrying until January, 1923, may be legible for loans under the Act, which expires on December 31 next. He stated the time for receiving applications had been put forward twice and he did not consider there was the slightest possibility of the date being further extended. Applications will therefore not be accepted after December 31. The secretary reported that four transactions amounting to £l7O had been completed since the last meeting; also that two loans had been refused by the department. The secretary also reported that four furniture loans amounting to £467, business £3OO and miscellaneous £5O had been paid off during the past month. The executive’s action in granting indulgence to four ex-soldiers who had borrowed money was confirmed. No applications for indulgence were received at this meeting. Two applications for furniture and a boot-repairing business, amounting to £llO, were recommended for approval. The secretary was authorised to institute legal proceedings against four men who had not fulfilled their obligations in a satisfactory manner, or given anv explanation of their failure.
