UNREST IN INDIA.
THE AMRITZAR TROUBLE. By Telegraph—Press A sen .—Copyright. Delhi, October 4. The position at Amritzar remains unchanged. An average of 80 Akalis are arrested daily. The total is over 900. Special magistrates are trying them and inflicting large fines and imprisonment up to six months with rigorous treatment. There are fewer Akalis now at Amritzar than since the struggle began. It is stated that they have returned to their villages to arouse their co-reli-gionists to proceed to Gurukabagh and get arrested, to embarrass the Government by filling the Punjab gaols, in which there is only limited accommodation. The Akali leaders have issued an injunction to their followers that, since wheat-sowing has begun, al] Sikhs and their sympathisers must finish the sowings of the brethren who are either in gaol or awaiting their turn to be arrested.
