SMUGGLING LIQUOR.
EVADING AMERICAN LAWS. AEROPLANES EMPLOYED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Received Oct. 5, 11.40 p.m. Washington, Oct. 5. Mr. Ralph Day. who to-day resigned the office of prohibition director at New York, revealed the latest methods used by bootleggers to smuggle liquor into the United States. Mr. Day declared 29 aeroplanes were operating regularly between New York and the Canadian border in smuggling whisky, both land and seaplanes be ; ng used. They were equipped with trap bottoms, enabling them to drop contraband into rivers when they suspected, the prohibition agents were aware of their business.
