GENERAL ELECTIONS.
F THE WAIKATO SEAT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Te Awamutu, Last Night. The announcement that Mr. J. T. Petrie had been selected as the Liberal candidate for the Waikato gave rise to an objection by the party supporters, who communicated with Mr. T. M. WilfOrd. He replied paying that Mr. Petrie had not been accepted by the party, nor had he, as party leader, had any communication with the announced candidate. Mr. Petrie now retires from the contest, cancelling his announced meetings, and has left the district. The Liberal delegates will hold a meeting at Te Awamutu on Saturday to select a candidate, and have asked Mr. Wilford to attend. \ THE NAPIER SEAT. Napier, Last Night. Mr. A. B. Jull, chairman of the Napier Harbor Board, who has on several occasions contested the Waipawa seat in tha Liberal interests against Sir George Hunter, has consented to contest the Napier seat as an Independent.
