UNCLAIMED MEDALS.

ONE LEFT FOR FIFTY YEARS. MAORI WAR DECORATION. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. One of the oldest and best Known citizens of Waitara recently brought under the notice of Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., his services during the Maori War in the early sixties, and said he had never received the New Zealand war medal or any other recognition. The matter was submitted to the Defence Department by the member, who has received a reply that the medal for the claimer had been in the department for over fifty years and would be forwarded to him by the first mail to Waitara.

The member has been informed that there are 12,000 unclaimed medals in Wellington belonging to New Zealand soldiers who gave their services in the late war.
