HAWKE’S BAY ACCEPTANCES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hastings, Oct. 3. Following are the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club's acceptances:—
Grotesque 9 6 Terawhiti 7 8 The Speaker 8 0® Makere 7 0 Tinihanga 7 9 Valley Rose 6 9 HAWKE’S BAY GUINEAS. King’s Trumpeter Pillage Mountain Lion Morose Zouave Rapine Kahikatea HASTING S STAKES. Town Talk Simonette Mountain Belle Migovern Caress Pepelphon Razzle Dazzle Bathos Matin Bell Foolish Stronghold TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.”) Races at Hastings to-day. Maloha will not be long now. Celmisla broke down again on Saturday. Kahikatea is unlucky,' but there may be a different tale to tell shortly. Tame Fox’s withdrawal from the New Zealand Cup did not occasion much surprise. The stable still has a good representative in Equitable. If Rapine (penalised lOlbs. for winning at Avondale) is not produced in to-day's Hawke's Bay Guineas, Mr. A. B. Williams will rely upon King’s Trumpeter—and a good sort he is, too. Marqueteur and Muraahi are the Taranaki horses engaged in the Wellington Handicap (eleven furlongs) and Rational and Irapuka have been entered for The Shorts (six furlongs), run at the same meeting. A northern scriho states that Mr. D. Norton, of India, and Trainer A. Tinker, of Auckland, left on Friday for 'Stralia with the horses Kilreid. Auditor, Microphone, and Thurnoria. The quartette will probably race in Western Australia for a while, and if they show satisfactory form there, may be shipped to India lator on. Last Saturday’s race proves that there crtn be very little between Beauford and Gloaming on a dry track, and their possible meeting in tq-day’s Craven Plate, a mile and a quarter, should be brimful of interest. Of the pair, Beauford should be more improved by recent racing, and with a fair run should again finish in front of the New Zealand-owned gelding. Taipairu ana de amends for recent defeats by winning easily "at Greenmeadows on Saturuay, and the speedy daughter of Mountain Knight and Rarama should’keep on winning. By the way Taipairu recently figured on race cards as a gelding, but the Turf Register and Stud Book agree that she is a filly. Although she went through last season without winning a race, Taipairu has recently shown great track form, and promises to turn out a. useful four-year-old.
Masterton weights are now engaging some attention. Bonnie Heather 7.9 stands out as the best handicapped horse in the Cup. Tenterfleld 8.2 is also nicely placed. Taipairu, with 21bs. above the minimum, looks well in the Grandstand Handicap, and Royal Box 8.6 and Ambitious 7.11 have nothing to complain of in the Flying Handicap. Redlogue 10.8, will probably be fancied for the High Weight Handicap, and recent form points to Miss Rene and Pillage being fancied for the minor events. Voluminous acceptances are carded for the Pakuranga Hunt meeting on Saturday. Amongst the acceptors are Income, Stork. Irapuka, Hipo, San Forte, Paul Pty. Anmy Service, etc., so that Taranaki holds a strong hand at the gathering. On Avondale form Income and Lucius should run well in the leading events.
