BRASS BANDS.
NEW PLYMOUTH CONTEST, Arrangements for the brass bands’ contest to be held at New Plymouth, commencing on February 26 next year, are now steadily taking shape. A meeting of the executive committee was held last night, there being present: Messrs. H. S. Brookman (chairman), E. J. Sole, H. R. Cattley, A. L. Humphries, F. J. Hill, Archdeacon Evans and Mr. E. L. Humphries (secretary). Several applications were received for the positions of judge and supervisor of the contest, but- these were held over pending the decision of the North Island Brass Bands’ Association. The Wellington contest colors for officials were adopted. The question of accommodation was discussed at some length, the committee being desirous of making the most satisfactory arrangements possible. Several recommendations were made to the accommodation committee, the main idea being to centralise the billeting scheme. It was decided that the executive should in future meet each alternate Tuesday.
