FALL FROM BICYCLE.
DEATH OF MR. GEO. TAYLOR. An inquest was held at Manaia on Friday evening concerning the death of George Taylor, of New Plymouth, who met his death by falling off hits bicycle near Kaupokonui on Thursday. Evidence was given %y deceased’s v '• that her husband had had heart trouble for the past two months. Mrs. Howard, boardinghouse-keeper, testified that deceased had called at her boardinghouse on Thursday at 4.30 p.m., and said that he had had a fall from his bicycle through a stray dog rushing out at him. At about 6 p.m. she found him in a state of collapse and unconscious in the bathroom. Dr. Maunsell said that Dr. Young, of Hawera, and he had examined the deceased after his removal to the hospital. They had performed a slight operation for diagnostic purposes. He also after death had conducted a post mortem. He found haemorrhage of the brain from a ruptured artery, ■which he considered was the result of the fall. The heart also was weak. To Mr. O’Dea: The heart being weak the deceased may possibly have collapsed on the road. The jury returned a verdict that the death of deceased was the result of a fall from his bicycle, and they expressed their sympathy with deceased's widow and family.—Star.
