TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
THE MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Wednesday, Thursday and yesterday. Present: Messrs. H. J. Lowe (chairman), S. Blake, C. J. Ryan, N. R. Cleland and J. W. H. Martin. The following applications for land were approved: L. H. Boisen, section 15, block VII., Ware; Thos. McMullen, section 9, block 1., Pahi; Frederick Matsen, sections 15-22, block 111., Piopiotea West. . An application by J. E. McLeod for the fee simple of section 10, block IL, Aria, was approved. The following applications to transfer were approved: Section 5, block X, Upper Waitara, Charles Larsen to A. and N. O. Jones; section I, block XIII, Huiroa, F. H. Bamitt to A. R. Thompson (sub-lease); sub 1 part section 20, town belt of New Plymouth, M. M. Wadman to H. N. Fogden; suib 19, suburbs of Opunake, J. Higgins to L. Goodger; sub 19, suburbs of Opunake, L. Goodger to B. F. Boroman; sections 57 and 167, block I, Mahoe, A. C. Roberts to Annie Abbott; sections 5 and 6, block XXVII, town of Patea, Sydney Smith to J. C. Hulbert; part section 196 H, town of New Plymouth, J. J. Powell to R A. Large; part section 13, block XII. Mapara, H. A. Julian to H. A. Julia.:. • The transfers of section 5, block IT, Aria, from A. Smith to H. H. Harrison, and of section IS, Tututawa settlement, from H. Johnson to G. Johnson, wore refused. Proposals for the expenditure of thirds by the Eltham, Patea, Hawera, Stratford and Waitomo County Councils were approved. An application by the Taranaki Hospital Board for permission to close West Street and part of Downe Street was agreed to. A valuer was appointed in the matter of the renewal of leases of sections 525, 496, 497, 498, 522, 523 and 524, town of New Plymouth, and also of subs 10 to 18 of section 42, Patea district. The reports of the arbitrators were received on the renewal of E.R. leases over sections 46, 39 and 17. block VI, Ngaire, and sections 236 and 237, Huirangi district. The application of V. Riddle for section 3, block I, Totoro, was refused, as was also the application by W. Rae for the front part of section 11, block Taurakawa. A miscellaneous lease was granted to H. H. Rawlinson over section 10, blockVII. Mahoe. The application by G. Fulcher for section 2, block VII, Totoro, was refused, it not being open for selection. Fifty-five applications under the discharged soldiers’ settlement scheme were dealt with and of these 8 application? to transfer were recommended and 3 refused, 4 applications for building grants were recommended and 3 deferred ; 7 applications for stock were recommended, 2 deferred and 3 refused; 4 applications for additional grants were refused.
