A London cable reports the death of Sir Charles Santley, a well-known English baritone singer of earlier years. His first great success was at Covent Gardens in 1859, and then followed a distinguished career. He Australia in 1889-1890. He was 88. The death is reported in London of Sir Julian Corbett, director of the historical section of the Committee of Imperial Defence. Sir Julian was an authority on naval matters and wrote the “Official History of the Great War Naval Operation's.” Mr. W. A. Veitch, M.P. for Wanganui, and Mrs. Veitch are spending the weekend in New Plymouth. Mr. John Edie, M.P. for Bruce, and Mrs. Edie are also visiting New Plymouth.
