Oats, 3s B%d to 3s 9d. Potatoes, £7 10s to £9 10s. Onions, £lO to £ll 10s. MELBOURNE HIDE MARKET. Received Sept. 22, 5.5 p.m. Melbourne, Sept. 22. The hide market was easier, though prices were unaltered. CAMBRIDGE BPRING HORSE FAIR. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., Hamilton, report: At Caunbrldge on September 12, 13, 14, and 15, we held our annual spring horse fair, and yarded 804 horses of all classes from all the bestknown Waikato breeders. The entry consisted of 124 unbrokens, 494 medium and heavy draughts, and 186 hacks and light harness sorts. Buyers were present from Whangaxei, Bay of Islands, Auckland, Felldlng, and al! parts of the Waikato and King Country, and we report a most successful sale, quitting 539 of the yarding. There was a splendid entry of heavy draughts, medium draughts, and useful spring-cart and fanm sorts, but very few good hacks or light harness horses, also a poor class of unbrokens. The top prices realised for heavy draughts were as follow:—On account of R. Shaw, 5-year-old gelding £7O. On account of A. S. Wallace, 5-year-old gelding £6O, 4-year-old filly £52. On account of Frank Richmond 3 heavy 4 and 5-year-olds, average £57. On account of the Hon. John Fisher, 2 4-year-old fillies £53 and £5l 10s; other heavy draughts making from £43 to £5O, aged draughts £2O to £3O, 3 and 4-year medium draughts £34 to £42, useful farm sorts £25 to £32, spring cart horses £lB to £23, old and worn draughts £5 to £l2, light harness horses £l7 to £24 10s, aged harness horses £7 to £l4, hacks £lO 10s to £22, ponies £4 to £lO, heavy unbroken 4-year draughts £34 to £43 10s, 3-year-old medium draughts unbroken £l3 10s to £24, unbroken spring-cart houses £9 to £l2 10s. BURNSIDE STOCK SALE. GOOD QUALITY CATTLE IN DEMAND. Dunedin, Sept. 20. There were only moderate yardings at the Burnside sale to-day, and prices, with the exception of those for prime fat bullocks, were either easier or unchanged. Fat Cattle.—A medium yarding of 194. The quality on the whole was not so good as last week, and prices for good quality cattle were firmer to the extent of 20s per head. Medium and inferior cattle were a shade easier. Prime ox beef was worth 32s 6d to 35s ptr 100 lb, light and unfinished ox beef 30s to 32s 6d, priune cow beef up to 255, aged cows 18s to 20s. Best bullocks brought from £l2 10s to £l4, extra prime up to £l7 6s, medium up to £9 10s, and inferior up to £7 10s. Best cows and heifers realised from £7 10s to £8 10s, extra prime up to £9 15s, medium from £6 -5s to £6 15s, and inferior from £5 10s. Sheep.—2B6s were yarded, a number of pens being of medium quality. Prices for heavyweight wethers declined to the extent of Is per head, medium and inferior sorts depreciated by Is fid to 2s per head. Very few ewes were offered, and they were in fairly good demand. Prime handy-weight wether mutton was worth 4%d to 4%d per lb, heavy 4d to 4’4d, medium quality to 4 1 ,£d, prime ewe ■mutton to 3%d, aged and inferior ewes to 3d. Best wethers brought 32s to 345, medium from 23s to 265, and inferior from 20s to 225. Best ewes realised up to 25s 6d, and medium from 16s to 18s. Store Cattle.—A yarding of 187. There was a keen demand for a few pens of well-con-ditioned store cattle. Three-year-old bullocks brought to £7 ss, medium sorts £3 10s to £5, and cows for boning were a shade firmer. Dairy Cows.—A fair number were sold, chiefly medium sorts. Competition was lifeless. Prices ranged from £4 to £6 15s, and for poorer sorts 25s to £3. Pigs were in average supply, and prices remained unchanged. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. PRICES ADVANCE. Christchurch, Sept. 2tf. At the Addington market there were smaller yardings to-day of both beef and mutton, with an advance in prices. Store Sheep.—A buoyant sale and all classes sold well, particularly wethers. Good wether hoggets made 15s to 16s 6d, wethers 14s 2d to 14s 9(1, cull wether hoggets Ils 7d to 14s 2d, halfbred ewe hoggets 20s 4d, good mixed sex hoggets 19s, aged ewes and lambs 12s to 14s 2d (all counted), failing-mouthed ewes and lambs 15s lid to 16s 3d. good three-quarter-bred 4 and 6-tooth wethers 23s 4 and 6tooth crossbred wethers 20s. Spring Lambs.—Fifty-three were penned and sold at 25s to 358. The price was up to Is 3d per lb. Fat Sheep.—A small yarding, and values were up by 3s per head. Extra prime wethers realised 33s to 35s Id, a few special wethers 41s. prime wethers 28s to 31s 6d, medium 25s to 28s. light 21s fid tn 24s fid, extra prime ewes 31 priime 24s 3d to 26s 6d, ordinary 21s 6d to 245. prime hoggets 22s to 25s 6d, ordinary 18s Cd to 21s fid. Fat Cattle. —290 head wore yarded, a much smaller entry than for some time. Seventyseven from the North Island were included and topped the market. One draft of 84 from Dannevirke made £l2 2s 6d to £l7 2s 6d. On account of the shorter yarding, values were up by about £2 per head on last week, recovering the values of a fortnight ago. Extra prime steers realised £l5 to £l7 2s 6d, prime £l2 10s to £l4 15s, medium £lO to £l2 ss, light and unfinished £6 10s to £9 ss. Extra prime heifers made £l2, prime £8 5s to £lO 15s, ordinary £6 15s to £B, extra prime cows £lO 15s, prime £7 15s to £9 15s, ordinary £5 10s to £7 10s. Vealers. —A larger entry, mostly of calves. Killable sorts sold well, runners at £4 1.25, vealers £3 10s to £4 ss, small calves £8 upwards. Store Cattle. —Yearling heifers and steers and 2-year-old heifers sold most briskly, but big steers met with poor competition. Twoyear heifers made £3 15s, yearlings £2 ss, yearling steers £2 Bs. The dairy cattle were of somewhat better quality, though low values ruled. Extra good second and third calvers realised to £lO, good sorts £7 10s, springing heifers £3 to £5 10s. Fat Pigs.—A larger entry. The sale was good at the opening, but became easier towards the finish. Choppers made £3 10s to £7. baconers £3 12s to £4 7s fid (average price 6%d to 6%d per lb), porkers 40s to 60s (average price 7%d to 8d per lb). Store Pigs.—A spirited demand and an advance to previous values. Best stores 455, medium 30s to 38s, small 22s to 275, weaners 16s to 28s. THE PIG MARKET. At the haymarket sale of Newton King, Ltd., yesterday weaner pigs made from 14s to 275, porkers £2 to £2 2s, store pig £1 10s.
