The improved Near East outlook had a good effect on the Stook Exchange, and the tone Is better all round. LONDON MARKETS. AFFECTED BY WAR CLOUD. London, Sept. 18. Consols, £ 56. The Stock Exchange Is gloomy, owing to the Eastern situation. Most of the quotations ar© marked down, but there is little selling except in speculative securities, like tpbacco and South African mining shares. There is also nervousness and a reactionary tendency In the foreign exchange market. The Bradford wool market is unchanged, users being very cautious. LONDON TALLOW SALES. London, Sept. 20. At the tallow sales 1557 casks were offered and 929 sold. There was good demand for medium at Gd advance. Other sorts were unchanged. Mutton, fine, 41s; medium 35s Gd; beef, fine, 41s; medium, 355.
