JUSTICES OF THE PEACE.
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. 1 The quarterly meeting of the Taranaki Justices of the Peace Association was held at New Plymouth last night. In the absence of the president, Mr. F. C. J. Bellringer occupied the chair. The secretary (Mr. W. J. Chaney) reported that 189 circulars had been distributed to justices of the peace in Taranaki requesting expressions of opinions on the question of joining the association in Taranaki So far 61 replies had been in favor, and twelve had been returned through the dead letter office. Mr. A. Davis moved, and Mr. R. H. Cattley seconded, that the association remain as a separate body. The constitution and rules of the association were read and confirmed. Mr. J. R. Hill moved, and Mr. E. Walsh seconded, that the secretary (be instructed to procure 200 copies of the rules and post a copy to each financial member. It was left to the secretary to obtain quotations for supplying medallions. It was resolved to ask the president' (Mr. A. M. Mowlem) to address members on a date to be fixed later.
