LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP AN INTER-ISLAND MATCH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. As a preliminary to the golf championship meeting, which commences to-morrow, a match was played to-day between the North and South Island ladies, and ended all square. The games resulted: Mrs. Guy Williams (Masterton) lost to Miss Wright (Timaru), 2 and 1. Miss Gambrill (Wellington) beat Miss Cracroft Wilson (Christchurch), 5 and 4. Miss Pay ton (Auckland) beat Mrs. McCarthy (Otago), 4 and 3. Miss Withers (Miramar) lost to Mrs. Cook (Otago), 3 and 2. Mrs. Murphy (Hutt) and Miss Dixon (Christchurch) , all square. Miss Snodgrass (Rotorua) and Mrs. Ronald Orbell (North Otago), all square. HAWKE’S BAY CHAMPIONSHIP . Napier, Last Night. The second round of the Hawke’s Bay golf championship, played to-day, resulted: L. W. Bridge beat E. C. Smith, 2 up; Dr. Williams beat W. E. Knight, 3 up and 2; J. Goss beat L. Speedy, 3 up and 2; G. M. Dodgshun beat F. C. Fryer, 2 up and 1. Semi-finals.—Bridge beat Williams, 5 up and 4; Goss beat Dodgshun, 2 up and 1. NORTH v. SOUTH TARANAKI.
