Paris advices state the Angora Government has replied to the Allies stating- that while they are unable to accept the Sevres Treaty definition of the neutral zones it will practically recognise the present position till peace is concluded.—Times Service. IN THE NEUTRAL ZONE. AN UNCONFIRMED REPORT. Received September 20, 10.10 p.m. Constantinople, September 19. The first Turkish cavalry has reached the outskirts of Bigha, on the edge of the neutral zone, fifty miles from Chanak.—Reuter Service. Received September 20, 8.55 p.m. London, September 20. The Daily Express reports that the Kemalists have entered the neutral zone near Chanak.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. TURKS SUGGEST CONFERENCE. SITUATION IMPROVED. London, September 19. The Daily Mail publishes a statement, described as officially inspired after the conclusion of the conference of Ministers, declaring that the situation, though grave, has markedly improved. The agreement between the Allies has cleared the air. The Allies are prepared effectively to meet the situation. The readiness of the Allied armed forces in and around Constantinople has already affected Kemal. It can be confidently stated that war is now most unlikely. Rechid Pasha, the Turkish representative in London, interviewed, declared that the Turks were willing to ensure the freedom of the Straits. All they wanted was a prompt and paceful settlement by a conference.
