CRITICAL SITUATION TURKS MOVE ONWARD BRITISH ARMY’S PLANS READY TO ACT ALONE The grave danger of war between Britain and Turkey is emphasised by the Constantinople correspondent of the London Daily Telegraph, a paper whose foreign, correspondents are reliable and unbiassed. The correspondent states the military situation in Constantinople is critical, and adds : “It is no exaggeration to say that Turkey is very close to open war with Britain, at least, and perhaps with France.” The Turkish army is moving northward and threatening the neutral zones of both the Da- lanelles and the Bosphorus. The discipline of the Turkish army is good and the troops, flushed by victory, are eager to press on. It is reported that Kemal Pasha has given the Allies six days to leave Constantinople, but there is no official confirmation of this. It is believed Kemal is able to throw 70,000 troops into battle. The British Cabinet held a conference with the army leaders, at which plans for sending reinforcements were made. The Cabinet expects the Allies will act in concert, but if necessary Britain will defend the neutral smes alone-
