A HAWERA FIRE.

OUTBREAK IN RESTAURANT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hawera, Sept. 18. Early on Sunday morning, during the height of a southerly gale, the Broadway Restaurant, occupied by Anthony Urlich, was discovered to be on fire. The brigade turned out sharply and found the fire had a good hold. They effected a fine save of the restaurant, which was in the middle of a block of wooden buildings. With the gale blow ing the fire might have assumed serious proportions. The front portion of the restaurant was gutted, and the back was damaged by smoke and water. The insurances are unavailble.
