MAKING STRIKES WORSE.
AN ALLIANCE OF MINERS. CO-OPERATION SUGGESTED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Sept. 18, 5.5 p.m. New York, Sept. 17. At Atlantic City, Mr. Green, secretary of the United Mine-workers of America,v announced that the British miners’ unions suggested an international alliance of coalminers, reciprocally to prevent coal exportation during strikes, and this has been favorably received here. Probably it will shortly result in a meeting of representatives of British and American miners, possibly including transport workers, without whose co-operation the export of coal could not be prevented. Mr. Green pointed out that such arrangements would shorten the duration of strikes. He stated that the British Miners’ Union sent £5OOO to help to finance the recent American coal strike. —Aus.-N.Z.
