DAILY NEWS AGENCY. Advertisements and items of news for publication in the Taranaki Daily News should be left at the office of our local representatative, care Mr. W. H. Humphrey, Broadway, Stratford. Orders for papers may also be left with him. THE TECHNICAL SCHOOL. Sept. 16. The Taranaki Education Board wrote to Saturday’s meeting of the Stratford County Council stating that the department had approved of the establishmentof a board of managers for the Technical High School. The Stratford County Council was entitled to elect one member to this board. Mr. A. H. R. Amess waited on the board to explain the position, as he thought there was some confusion regarding the constitution of the board. Each of the local boodies within five miles was entitled to nominate a candidate for appointment to the board. Two members were required, and there would be one nomination each from the Eltham and Stratford County Councils

and the Stratford Borough Council. The members of these bodies would be the electors, and unless they wished their nominee to be out-voted it would be necessary to attend at the poll at the school on Tuesday night. Mr. Amess ' said he would like to see the country j districts represented, as the school had ! a strong agricultural bias. Mr. J. H. Thomas was nominated as the council’s representative. THE BAND IN EMBRYO. There was an attendance of eighteen at the meeting of the hand last night, and a number of apologies for absence were received. Mr. C. H. Lawn presided. After a few introductory remarks by i the chairman, the following officers were elected: Conductor. Mr. C. H. Lawn: deputy conductor. Mr. W. Grant; band sergeant, Mr. C. Milner: band cor- ■ poral and librarian, Mr. P. Hunter. I Mondays and Fridays were the nights j selected for meetings and practice. I ! Matters in connection with repairs so 1 I instruments, bandroom and lights were left in the hands of the sergeant, eorI poral and Mr. Childs. ' The prospects of the band are parti- | eularly bright, and it is expected that very soon a band of twenty-five performers will make its appearance. THE MODEL FARM. An 'amount of £4OO appears on the agricultural estimates this year for the Stratford Model Dairy Farm in the ex-. perimental area at Stratford. This will enable the excellent work that the farm has already done to be further proceeded with, and the experiments, which must be of great value to the farmers, to be continued. At Humphrey’s.
