A good story- was told in Timaru against the Scotch (states the Post). The story goes that a traveller called at the door of a house during his canvassing and was met by a Chinaman. He asked for the lady of the house, and there came to the door a fine-looking woman who said that her husband had told her she was wanted. “What,” said the traveller; “surely you are not married to a Chinaman?” The lady replied, “Yes, but that is nothing. Why, my sister is married to a Scotsman!”
