INGLEWOOD.

BOROUGH COUNCIL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Borough Council held its monthly meeting on Tuesday. The Mayor (Mr. J. R. Sutherland) presided. It was resolved not to sell the old gate at the cemetery, which has just been replaced by double gates, hung on concrete poets. On the motion of Crs. Spurdie and Fawcett, the sum of £25 w*as voted to Mr. Clutha Mackenzie’s appeal on behalf of the blind of the Dominion. /On the motion of Crs. Fawcett and Eagar the Salvation .Army was given permission to hold a street stall for sale of goods on Saturday. October 7. It ( was decided on the proposal of Crs. SpuMTe and Frewin to grant Messrs. Harris and Glenie water supply for pelton wheel at their premises in Kelly Street, for which a charge of £5 per annum shall be made. Satisfaction was expressed with the Highways Bill in its present form. On the motion of the Mayor and Cr. Spurdie a license was granted to the Inglewood County Council for the storage of dangerous goods under the Act. The Works Committees’ report was adopted, and on the motion of Crs. Frewin and Egarr. it was decided to metal a chain of street at the junction of Rata and Pukatea Streets. The electric light committee’s report was adopted. The acceptance of insurance was decided by lot. and Messrs. Drake Bros, were successful. DOMAIN BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Domain Board was held in the borough council chambers on Tuesday. On the motion of Messrs. Fawcett and Frewin the application of the Taranaki Provincial Prohibition Council for the use of part of the. Domain for a public meeting on Sunday afternoon next, 17th inst., was granted. It was resolved, on the motion of Messrs. Fawcett and Eagar to put a < gate in the fence dividing the pavilion paddock from the cemetery reserve, similar to the entrance gate to that paddock from Elliott Street. On the proposal of Messrs. Fawcett and Egarr the board decided to. have the pickets removed from near the old entrance to the cemetery.. T’'° reserves committee was entrusted with the erection of a gate into the cemetery from the pavilion yaddoek.
