THE STATE ORCHESTRA.

DISBANDMENT AVERTED. Sydney. Sept. 6. The New South Wales State Orchestra is to continue. This announcement, made during the State Orchestra’s performance at the Sydney Town Hall last Saturday, was greeted with cheering and wild enthusiasm from a big crowd of patriotic music lovers. The orchestra is to be carried on upon a co-operative basis, and will retain its present title. Mr. Andre Skalski. whose policy. of reorganisation the members of the orchestra have adopted, will be the conductor, and he intends to forego any monetary reward until the balances are on the right side. It is intended to ask other conductors from various parte of Australia to conduct from time to time, and every assistance will be given to Australian composer? and Australian artists.
