ELTHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Eltham Chamber of Commerce has received the following letter from Mr. O. Hawken, M.P.: “I note from the newspaper report of your last meeting that fears were expressed that Eltham would be left out as a stopping station for the mail train when speeded up. I have seen the Minister of Railways on this subject, and he informs me that there is not the slightest foundation for the rumor, and further assures me that under no consideration will Eltham be left out as a stopping station.” At a meeting of the Progress Committee on Monday evening- it was recommended to subscribers that the body should adopt the proposal of linking up with the Chamber of Commerce.
