WHITELEY FLOWER SHOW.

OPENS THIS AFTERNOON. To-day the Mayor will formally open the Whiteley daffodil show" at 2.30 p.m. This show has really filled a o want in the community, and it©- growing importance has been reflected in the increasing attendance each year. The show this year will be on the high level of excellence that has characterised all its predecessors. The Gibson exhibit of daffodils will b' well worth seeing and will take up one side of the building. The comn tition for the Gibson Cup, the White Unp and the Public School Shield is )■ ‘H and will bring out many exhibitors. There will also foe exhibits of cut b -orns, anemones, pot plants, baskets a id bowls, decorated mantelpieces, decoX ted tables and private exhibits of el nice flowers. The -proceeds of the show are for the upkeep and care of the church property and the trustees Slave comprehensive schemes in progress demanding funds. To this end the ladies of the congregation have been working for some weeks, and the display of plain and fancy goods, provision and. produce, art and other stalls will prove tempting to those who visit the show. Afternon tea and supper will bo provided, and the show will be open afternoon and evening to-day, tomorrow and Friday.
