Thousands of head of cattle are being abandoned in North Queensland to die owing to the low values and the high cost of removing them to localities where there is grass and water. This statement was made last week by Mr. Hugh McMaster, of Cevencourt Station, near Cloncurry, North Queensland. The course is being adopted on account of the severe dry spell now being experienced, particularly to the south-west of Cloncurry. In normal seasons beneficial rains are experienced in Cloncurry region between May and November. Mr. McMaster added that if rain does not fall before December probably 75 per cent of the 30,000 head of cattie on Buckingham State Station will be lost. FORD OWNERS! Reduce the running cost of your car. Install a “KING” AUTOMATIC OILER. No more scored pistons, and burnt-out bearings. Don’t be without one another day. Particulars from R. P. M. Manning Co., 139 Albert Street, Auckland. —P
