BUTTER AND CHEESE.

NEW SEASON’S PROSPECTS, DRIED MILK INDUSTRY. Hamilton, Sept. 6. A cablegram received by the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company from its London manager, Mr. B. Wright, states that the present outlook indicates that butter arriving in October, November. and December will be a better proposition than cheese. For the January, February and March arrivals cheese is expected to pay slightly better than butter. Thereafter butter will probably pay better. This forecast is made contingent entirely on what quantities of butter and cheese other countries make. With regard to milk powder the assu- . mulated stocks of American cheap pow- ! der are disappearing, and are not being i replaced, as it has been found to be unremunerative. Firmer prices are expected later. Business is continually opening up, and he expected confirmation of the first German order for 20 tons any day.
