The playing of the Bach suite was particularly fine. She is greatly to be commended.” GENERAL ITEMS. At the annual meeting of the Strat- j ford Cricket Club last night the ques- | tion of grounds was discussed, a member suggesting that the Borough Council should be approached with the object of having a concrete pitch laid down on Victoria Park. It was considered that this proposition would meet with too much opposition. The hope was expressed that in carrying out the improvement scheme in the park the council would not overlook the provision of a cricket pitch, which, it was thought, had a claim a.s well as football. Lively interest and enthusiasm was displayed in matters of importance to cricket at last night’s annual meeting of the Stratford Club. Tn view of the prospective visit of McLaren’s team to Taranaki players were advised to secure all possible practice so that they might make a creditable showing when pitted against the English team.
