DEATH FOR INSANE

A PROPOSAL IN GERMANY. TO EASE ECONOMIC BURDEN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 9, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, Sept. 8. A proposal to ease the economic situation in Germany by killing the incurably insane was made in an article in the leading criminal law journal, Strafechts Zeitung. It states there are 834,000 insane in Germany, of whom at least half are incurable. These should be painlessly executed by the asylum surgeon. The article suggests permits for executions should be granted on the application of relatives after a thorough investigation by a highly-specialised court.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
